As VH1 prepares to air out 20 years of TLC’s group drama in
the upcoming biopic “Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story,” original group members
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas are making the media rounds
and speaking on what really happened between the group and their original
manager Perri ‘Pebbles’ Reid. Pebbles, who is definitely presented as a villain
in the film, caught wind of their commentary and is now threatening to sue!
T-Boz and Chili hit Power 105.1′s “The Breakfast Club”
morning show in New York to talk their anniversary album (in stores now) and
the new film, which they both executive produced. But the conversation stopped
being polite and started getting real when DJ Envy said he saw the film and
“hated” Pebbles and her ex-husband L.A. Reid because of how greedy they seemed.
“Was Pebbles really that bad?” Angela Yee asked as Charlamagne chimed in, “she
seems like the Devil!"
“It’s not exaggerated,” T-Boz noted of horror stories that
are included in the film, like how the group sold over $10 million records but
after signing a contract with Pebbles, only ended up with $15,000 apiece. The
girls even said that when they eventually went to buy the name “TLC” from
Pebbles she charged them $1 million per letter. Chili noted that these types of
stories were even “toned down” for the film.
Do you think Pebbles is justified for being mad and
threatening to sue or should she get over it all and get her hands out of TLC’s
pockets?
