It’s been a week since CrazyS*xyCool: The TLC Story came
on and blew everybody’s minds, but it’s also been a week since it put some
pretty strong accusations out there about Perri “Pebbles” Reid and even her
ex-husband LA Reid. Pebbles has already threatened legal action, and the night
after the movie came on, her kids were online going at it with fans of the
movie and group, who were calling their mother a thief. Pebbles’ daughter,
Ashley, was particularly feisty with folks and is still going back and forth
with people on Twitter, telling them to fix their face, their weaves, calling
folks fat, and on and on. Here are some of the most interesting things she’s
had to say about the movie over the last week. Here’s what she told her mom:
“@pebbles2day I love you so much pretty momma! You’re an
inspiration, generous soul, incredibly talented artist, and blessing of a
momma!!!”
And here’s what she told the haters:
“@1klexus_ my mom was a thief? All the money my taxes have
paid for your welfare, and you got the nerve to point fingers? Sheesh!”
“I love reading opinions from people with less than 200
followers. Did twitter make you feel important finally? Is your hate being
heard?”
“When will people realize that a movie is a MOVIE? Not
truth. This is not a true story. It’s meant to entertain.”
“I will defend my family, what I love, & what I believe
regardless of what anyone has to say. It doesn’t depend on what channel I’m
watching”
“Take that same ratchet energy and put it towards
healthcare, state laws, or taxes.Do you even go so hard for Jesus? Or is TV
your religion?”
There was even a picture
from MediaTakeOut that she linked to, where the site called Chilli
and T Boz liars because Chilli was seen making nice with Pebbles just two years
ago. Ashley commented on it saying, “LMAO exactly” and “holding hands two years
ago? Sheesh! How sweet”
But one comment that definitely stood out was this one, that
seemed to come off as something of a threat to Chilli:
“@officialchilli I cannot WAIT to see you around honey!”
While Ashley initially tried to say that it wasn’t a threat
when confronted by people on Twitter, she went on to own the fact that it was,
and she that she wasn’t sorry about it when sharing her thoughts on Instagram:
“Being tactlessly defensive is a choice, and is rarely the
most effective approach for anyone. It was my choice. Threatening is not what I
represent. In anger, many things are said out of intense emotion. This goes the
same for obvious desperation and a need for making someone a fall guy in order
to generate publicity. That was TLC’s choice. My voice is my own and is not
reflective of my mother’s opinions. Despite all the lies and slander depicted
in the movie and over the past 20 years, my mother loves TLC, and always has.
In conclusion, defending who I love and what I know is right is something I
will never apologize for under any circumstance. Including this one.”
Of course, Chilli didn’t respond, but the ladies (especially
T Boz) were very adamant late last week that their story was the truth and that
folks who had a problem with it needed to build a bridge and, well, you know:
“All these scorned heffas need to get over it. Pray about it and grow. Like,
get over it!”
Chilli agreed when speaking to
an NBC affiliate in Atlanta, saying that they told nothing but the
truth: “I’m very proud of the film. We were very hands on, as executive
producers. It was my dream to tell this story…at the end of the day,
I know, my group member knows we told the truth. We didn’t lie.”
I’m not surprised that Ashley is defending her mother as
hard as she is. Who wouldn’t want to do the same for their parent? But she
might want to be careful, especially since only TLC, Pebbles and God (and maybe
past lawyers) really know what happened to their money and why their business
relationship fell apart…
